Symptoms
For any user paused metro session, if there is an appliance reboot, then the Preferred volume is fenced and loses Host access, even if the Non-Preferred volume is not promoted.
Cause
On an appliance reboot, all the metro volumes are fenced by default. The system automatically unfences the non-demoted Preferred volumes as long as the session is not Paused.
For Paused sessions, the volumes will remain fenced and lose access to Host IO. An alert is generated to indicate this and user action is recommended.
Resolution
The user can promote the volume to give it host access.
