NTP servers are reachable from the NAS server network but not from a network that is used for management purposes. When attempting to configure the NTP servers in Unisphere, they get the following error: Cannot create NTP servers. At least one of the Specified NTP servers is not working (error code: 0x60000840).
Per the design, Unity NAS servers do not contact NTP servers. The array using the management interface contacts the NTP servers, and then the NAS servers inherit the system time for the entire Unity. Unity tests connectivity to the NTP servers when they are being added to the configuration. Unity does not allow the user to configure an NTP server that is not reachable from the Unisphere Management IP address.
Unisphere Management IP address must be able to query NTP servers.
