Symptoms
Attempting to configure NTP servers in an environment where the NTP servers are reachable from the NAS server network but not from a separate network that is used for management purposes. When attempting to configure the NTP servers in Unisphere, they get the following error:
Cannot create NTP servers. At least one of the Specified NTP servers is not working (error code: 0x60000840).
Cause
Per the design, individual Unity NAS servers do not contact NTP servers. The system using the management interface contacts the NTP servers, and then the NAS servers inherit the system time for the entire Unity system. The Unity system tests connectivity to the NTP servers when they are being added to the configuration. The Unity system does not allow the user to configure an NTP server that is not reachable from the Unisphere Management IP address.
Resolution
NTP servers must be deployed in a manner where the Unisphere Management IP address can successfully query them.
