Symptoms
Impact:Unable to start switch supportsave from SANnav.Unable to start firmwaredownload from SANnav.
Environment:Brocade Software: Fabric OS 8.2.2cBrocade Software: Fabric OS 9.0.1b
Problem:When attempting to collect a supportsave or run a firmwaredownload by SANnav, the action quickly fails.Initiating the supportsave or firmwaredownload manually by CLI and point it to the same SANnav SFTP server works without issue.
The switch errdump may contain the following error:Example:
[SS-1001], 179, CHASSIS, WARNING, sw0, supportSave's upload operation to remote host has been aborted (Error occurred in SSH).
The SANnav logs show the following events:
Failed to generate Supportsave for switch 10.0.0.1. Reason: SupportSave - Invalid config options.
Cause
There is a DEFECT in Fabric OS that prevents FOS from handling passwords with certain special characters such as $.If the SANnav SFTP or SCP password is configured to include the $ character, it causes supportsaves and firmwaredownloads initiated by SANnav to fail.
Brocade DEFECT FOS-820674
Resolution
FIX:Upgrade to Fabric OS 8.2.2d or higher.Upgrade to Fabric OS 8.2.3 or higher.Upgrade to Fabric OS 9.0.1c or higher.
Workaround:There are two options:
Run supportsave/firmwaredownload by CLI from the switch rather than from SANnav, pointing it to SANnav or to an alternate SFTP server.
OR
Change the SFTP password of SANnav so that it does not include the $ symbol in the password.
At 2.1.1 and lower SANnav must be uninstalled and reinstalled to change the SFTP password.
