Symptoms
Are you having trouble logging in using face recognition outside in direct sunlight?
(Figure.1 Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme Tablet)
It has been reported that Latitude 7220 Rugged Extreme Tablet owners may have trouble using facial recognition with Windows Hello under direct sunlight.
Windows Hello is software in the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system that can log you into the operating system up to three times faster than using a password. It includes using your system camera to recognize your face, your fingerprint reader to recognize your fingerprint, or as a fall back you can set a Personal Identification Number (PIN) in addition to your regular password.

Cause
Our engineering group has identified that the IR camera sensor in use industry-wide can be interfered with by certain wavelengths of solar radiation (such as direct sunlight on a bright day).
Resolution
Microsoft recommends that you use the Improve Recognition method to enroll your face's outline again in the bright outdoor environment.
Select Start => Settings => Accounts => Sign-in Options => Windows Hello Face - then select Improve RecognitionTenForums: Improve Windows Hello Face Recognition in Windows 10 Microsoft Support: Troubleshoot problems with Windows Hello
Our best advice for a quick resolution is to try the camera login again when in shade, out of direct sunlight. Alternatively, you can swap the login to either Fingerprint, PIN or password when sunlight is causing a problem and to use the Improve Recognition steps when you have the time to work through them.
