Symptoms
Issue:
A Windows Server host system running as a Cluster node, connected to an Equallogic SAN via the Host Integration Tools (HIT) kit and with host-based Kaspersky AV and AppAssure-protected iSCSI volumes, will see its volumes disconnect; in addition, the following error messages can be seen in the Application event log: Event ID: 9, Source: iScsiPrt - Target did not respond in the time for SCSI request. The CDB is given in the dump data. Event ID: 39, Source: iScsiPrt - Initiator sent a task management command to reset the target. The target name is given in the dump data. Event ID: 129, Source: iScsiPrt - The description for Event ID 129 from source iScsiPrt cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. (Additional info: The device, \Device\ScsiPort0, did not respond within the time-out period.)
Solution:
Uninstall Kaspersky AntiVirus solution and contact Kaspersky Support for further assistance in determining how best to accommodate AV protection with the Cluster solution in place.
Additional Information:
Most antivirus software uses filter drivers (device drivers) that work together with a service to scan for viruses. These filter drivers reside above the file system recognizer and scan files as they are opened and closed on a local hard disk. Antivirus software may not understand the shared disk model and may not correctly allow for failover. When troubleshooting failover issues or general problems with a Cluster services and antivirus software is installed, temporarily uninstall the antivirus software or check with the manufacturer of the software to determine whether the antivirus software works with Cluster services. Just disabling the antivirus software is insufficient in most cases. Even if the antivirus software is disabled, the filter driver is still loaded after the system is restarted. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/250355
