Symptoms
Two issues have been discovered that may affect systems utilizing Data Reduction with Deduplication that may result in lower than expected Data Reduction savings:
Systems running SCOS 7.4.5 – 7.4.10 using Data Reduction with Deduplication may be running with higher than expected levels of fragmentation in deduplication space. A Data Reduction process in charge of garbage collection may, on rare occasions, fail to release deleted pages in deduplication space on systems with large amounts of volume data enabled for deduplication.
Both issues have been resolved in SCOS 7.4.11 which can be made available for upgrade in certain circumstances.Customers who utilize SupportAssist technologies were sent a message directly to the affected systems using the Proactive Notification feature in Storage Center OS. Contact Support to learn more about how to setup SupportAssist to ensure your systems are notified of any future issues.
