Symptom
When upgrading toward a Catalyst 9800 Cisco IOS XE version supporting the 6Ghz band, this band is enabled by default on every WLANs configured on the WLC. This is the case even if the SSID does not comply with the 6GHz band requirements, to know:
- WPA2 Enabled
- WPA3 Enabled
- Dot11ax Enabled
For SSID not complying with the requirement listed above and with only one of the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band enabled, any change made on the WLAN configuration from the GUI will fail with due to the following error: "To enable broadcast on 6 GHz, please ensure that the above conditions are satisfied". Applying changes using CLI or on SSIDs with both he 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands enabled will work fine.
Conditions
WLAN with either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band enabled and with the 6GHz band enabled while not complying with its requirements.
Workaround
- Disabled the 6GHz band for the WLAN.
- Make the WLAN compliant with the 6GHz band requirements.
- Change the WLAN configuration using CLI.
