Symptom
Physical interface configuration in the output of the show running-config all command does not include the cdp enable default configuration command on Catalyst 8000 routers and Catalyst switches. Management interfaces (such as GigabitEthernet0) of ISR 4000 series routers and ASR 1000 series routers encounter this same issue, but other physical interfaces of these series routers do not encounter this same issue.
Conditions
This issue is observed on Catalyst 8000 routers and Catalyst switching platforms where the Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) feature is globally enabled through the cdp run global configuration command. This issue is also observed on the management interfaces of ISR 4000 series routers and ASR 1000 series routers, but not the other physical interfaces of the same series routers.
Workaround
The no cdp enable command that disables CDP on a physical interface appears in the output of the show running-config all command. The absence of this command (or the presence of similar CDP interface-level configuration commands, such as cdp tlv app) implies that CDP is enabled on the physical interface.
