Symptom
IOS-XE device comes up with no configuration after getting rebooted.
In the console log, messages like below are seen.
%PMAN-3-PROCFAIL: R0/0: root: The process dmiauthd has failed (rc 134)
%DMI-4-CLI_LOCK_FAIL: R0/0: dmiauthd: Failed to obtain exclusive access to the IOS parser: ^M^JNot found process details of config session lock owner^M^JConfiguration mode is locked by process '665' user 'unknown' from terminal '-1'. Please try later.^M^J.
Core file generated by the dmiauthd process.
config-transaction mode is not accessible once router is booted.
Conditions
1. IOS-XE device running 17.3.4 or 17.3.5 code is rebooted and comes up without configuration.
2. Error messages as seen above are shown in logs regarding the dmiauthd process.
3. config-transaction mode is not accessible.
4. When attempting to clear the config-lock for the mentioned user which had locked the configuration, the router seems unaware of such user.
Workaround
At this time the only recovery method known is to wipe the router config with the following command and onboard the device again.
request platform software sdwan config reset
