An NP may fail to successfully initialize on a full hw/code boot. The following entries woullld be observed in the syslog: LC/0/7/CPU0: Feb 7 08:02:01.814 IST: npu_server_lsp[330]: %PLATFORM-NP-4-INIT_DEBUG_MSG : After 1 attempt(s), NPx has failed to initialize. LC/0/7/CPU0:F eb 7 08:02:01.818 IST: pfm_node_lc[323]: %PLATFORM-NP-1-NP_INIT_FAIL_NO_RESET : Set|npu_server_lsp[4757]|0x10a5006|Persistent NP initialization failure, linecard reload not required.
This is an extremely rare NP initialization only observed on some A99-10X400GE card during a full hardware (not a VM) reload. The failure rate is roughly 0.20%, ie once in about 500 full reloads.
All of the other NP slices on the card are fully functional. The NP/slice that failed to initialize can be recovered by doing a full reload (admin hw loc reload) of the linecard.
