Symptom
A Nexus 5500 switch that is configured with storm control for a specific traffic type on either a front-panel interface or a FEX interface that receives a large amount of traffic matching the storm control traffic type will generate a syslog reporting the incorrect storm control traffic type and configured threshold value.
switch# show running-config interface Ethernet1/1
interface Ethernet1/1
switchport mode trunk
storm-control multicast level 5.00
switch# show logging logfile | include ignore-case storm.control
2021 Jan 14 14:42:01 switch %ETHPORT-5-STORM_CONTROL_ABOVE_THRESHOLD: Broadcast Traffic in port Ethernet1/1 exceeds the configured threshold 100%
Conditions
1. Nexus 5500 switch configured with storm control. This issue does not affect Nexus 5600 or Nexus 6000 switches.
2. Interface configured with storm control for a specific traffic type receives enough traffic within that traffic type to breach the storm control threshold.
3. Nexus 5500 switch generates a syslog reporting that broadcast traffic has exceeded or fallen below the configured threshold. The configured threshold is reported to be 100%, regardless of the actual configured threshold.
Workaround
There is no known workaround for this issue at this time.
