Symptom
ISIS may crash in steady state due to assertion failure. Following message will be observed in syslog:
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:Aug 27 06:59:37.397 PDT: syslog_dev[116]: isis[1007] PID-14972: assertion failed, line isis_dec_lsp_transfer_lsps:1484
Conditions
ISIS router with large number of established adjacencies (> 100).
'mpls traffic-eng' configured under router isis address-family ipv4.
Further Problem Description
The 'nsf cisco' configuration is recommended for HA purpose. With that in place, the isis crash will result in a coredump and restart of the ISIS process. Control plane will recover automatically and there should be no impact to traffic.
