Symptom
After upgrading a vNGIPS device from 6.2.3-83 to 6.6.0-90, the following error is repeated 19 times each minute in /var/log/messages:
Jul 13 17:03:00 TimeSeries [6549]: [WARN] insertSample : error in RRDs::update() This RRD was created on another architecture [/usr/local/sf/lib/perl/5.10.1/SF/TimeSeries.pm,218]
Conditions
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Baseline a vFMC at 6.2.3-113
2. Baseline a vNGIPS device at 6.2.3-83
3. Configure the FMC w/ policies, devices, and traffic, and upgrade the FMC and devices to 6.2.3.7
4. Soak w/ traffic for two days and upgrade the FMC and devices to 6.2.3.16-59
5. Soak w/ traffic for two days and upgrade the FMC and devices to 6.6.0-990
Expected Results:
The upgrades are successful, w/ no new errors found on the managed devices.
Actual Results:
The upgrades are successful, but the following error is now found in /var/log/messages on all vNGIPS devices tested, after the 6.6.0-90 upgrade:
Jul 13 17:03:00 TimeSeries [6549]: [WARN] insertSample : error in RRDs::update() This RRD was created on another architecture [/usr/local/sf/lib/perl/5.10.1/SF/TimeSeries.pm,218]
Workaround
None known at this time.
Further Problem Description
This problem was initially identified on two different vNGIPS devices which were involved in the test described in the Conditions field. To test further, I added another 6.2.3-83 vNGIPS device to the 6.6.0-90 vFMC and upgraded that device directly from 6.2.3-83 to 6.6.0-90, and confirmed the errors are found on that device as well, so it seems the intermediate patches and traffic feed are not a requirement to reproduce the bug.
I did not observe this error on any of the FTD devices, physical S3 devices, or Elektra devices tested.
