Symptom

Flex APs lose connectivity with the WLC and go into standalone mode, but after that, they start renewing DHCP address almost every 3 minutes, asking for a new IP on every renew until connectivity with the WLC is established back... Wireless clients connections supported in standalone mode are not affected with the IP address change on the AP, but this could affect DHCP services, such as exhausting the DHCP pool, leading to APs not getting anymore IP addresses at some point and affecting services.

Conditions

Flex APs going to standalone mode.

Workaround

- Configure a Reserved DHCP for these APs on the DHCP server. OR - Just use "ip dhcp remember" (or equivalent if using a non-IOS DHCP server), to make sure that, after a release/renew, the AP gets the same address as before.
