Symptom
In a Dual Homed nV Satellite set-up with ring topology, (straight after router bootup) traffic is being dropped on the Secondary host (as specified in the Role line of show nv satellite protocol redundancy.
More specifically, the traffic is dropped because the wrong BVID is set on the satellite fabric link. For links on the Secondary host, the BVIDs should be in the range 2001-4000 (and in the problem scenario, the BVID will be less than 2001)
Conditions
Topology: dual homed nV Satellite ring topology
All config is applied before rebooting the Secondary host.
Straight after booting the Secondary host (if the config was already applied) there is a small possibility of hitting this issue.
Workaround
The workaround is to remove either the ICCP configuration or the satellite fabric link configuration before rebooting the system.
Recovery is either:
- process restart icpe_satfabmgr on all nodes.
- remove the configuration from the problem satellite fabric link and then reapply it.
Further Problem Description
The issue is a race condition and is seen when the ICCP connection is established while the configuration on the satellite fabric link is being applied (more specifically while the Satellite Tunnel interface is being created)
