In rare situations, the following NP soft errors may occur and will cause the linecard to be reloaded. Typhoon (block/memory): o PRS/KMEM_LOW, KMEM_HIGH o SRCH/LKP_KEY_MEM o RSV/KMEM_LOW, KMEM_HIGH o SMI/INT0_MEM to INT3_MEM o SMI/CAM_FIFO o TM_QC/FD_DRAM o TM_QC/QC_QD_DRAM Tomahawk (block/memory): o PRS/KMEM_LO, KMEM_HIGH o LKP2GRPS/HASH_LKP_KEY o RSV/KMEM_LO, KMEM_HIGH o TM_QC/QC_QD_DRAM o TM_QC/EMEM_PD_DRAM o TM_QC/IMEM_PD_DRAM All of the above errors will now be repaired, recovered via NP fast reset, or ignored instead of a linecard reload. Examples of each of the above error are included in the "Further Problem Description section".
These are all rare occurrences. They are true soft errors so there is no specific trigger. High altitudes will cause increases in the soft error rates.
There are no workarounds. If one of these errors does occur on a router which does not have the changes associated with this bug ID, the linecard will be reloaded and no further recovery is required.
