It has been determined that these systems display video when the DisplayPort input of the U3415W is set to DisplayPort 1.1. Note: The U3415W supports both DisplayPort 1.1 (DP1.1) and DisplayPort 1.2 (DP1.2), however the out-of-box default setting on the monitor is DP1.2. Workaround: We must set the U3415W to DP1.1 mode for single monitor operation. To switch monitor to DP1.1: If you can see video, go to the monitor On-Screen Display (OSD) menu using the monitor menu buttons and change the DisplayPort 1.2 option to Disabled (Figure 1). Figure 1 If you are unable to see any video, unplug all video cables from the display and perform the following steps using the monitor menu buttons (Figure 2): Press the button next to the Power button to open the monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuSelect DisplaySelect Input SourceSelect DP or mDP (depending on your connection)Press and hold the green check mark button for approximately 8 seconds. When the DP1.2 message box appears, select Disable.Exit the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) and select Disable. Figure 2 If this does not resolve the issue, update the firmware of the Dell monitor. Back to Top Light Leakage on Four Corners of the Screen The U3415W display has a curved screen providing optimal viewing position from the center of the screen. When testing a display for light leakage, this should be done in normal ambient lighting, this issue should not be inspected in a dark room. Due to the screen curvature, some corners of the screen may appear to have minimal light leakage, especially when displaying a dark image in a dark room. This is normal monitor behavior for a curved screen and typically does not affect overall viewing performance (Figure 3). Figure 3 All U3415W monitors are inspected per the industry standard, which is with 150 lux ambient lighting (similar to typical office lighting). Any visual inspection should be done in the same manner. Back to Top Slight Color Variations The U3415W display has a curved screen, because of this design, the optimal viewing position should be from the center of the screen. Due to the screen curvature, some corners of the screen may appear yellowish or pinkish, especially when displaying a dark image in a dark room. This is normal monitor behavior for a curved screen and typically does not affect overall viewing performance. Workaround: Turn on Uniformity Compensation: Open the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuSelect DisplaySelect Uniformity CompensationSelect ONExit the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) Menu Back to Top Image Retention or Image Sticking The U3415W may experience a slight Image Retention when a static image is displayed on the screen over extended periods of time. This is normal In Plane Switching (IPS)/ Place to Line Switching (PLS) panel behavior. Workaround: Do one or more of the following: Always use a screen saver where possible.Run LCD Conditioning to reduce minor cases of Image Retention. Open the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuSelect OthersSelect LCD ConditioningExit the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuLet the display operate for 20 minutes Back to Top Image Ghosting The U3415W is factory tuned to provide the best viewing performance for office and graphics productivity usage. Due to this preset configuration, in certain applications with fast moving images (such as fast moving games), imaging ghosting, which appears as a trailing shadow, may occur (Figure 4). Figure 4 Workaround: Change the Response Time: Open the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuSelect DisplaySelect Response TimeSwitch between Normal or Fast to find the best performance for your applicationExit the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) Menu Back to Top No Video The Monitor Power LED is On, but there is no image on the screen. The display gives a on screen error message that may say that "No XX Cable detected" (Figure 5) Figure 5 Workaround: Follow the following troubleshooting steps: Ensure that video cables are properly connected. If using a DisplayPort (DP) cable, ensure that the DP cable on the monitor side is connected to DP-in, not DP-out.Remove all other video cables besides the one you intend to use. (E.G. If you intend to use DP, remove the High Definition Multi-media Interface (HDMI) cable from the system and monitor).Go into the Monitor OSD menu Press the button next to the Power button to open the monitor On Screen Display (OSD) MenuSelect DisplaySelect Input SourceSelect DP or Mini DisplayPort (mDP) (depending on your connection)Exit the Monitor On Screen Display (OSD) Menu Back to Top No Video on DisplayPort on Windows or Mac Ensure that the Power LED is ON, but No Video from the screen. Note: The U3415W supports both DisplayPort 1.1 (DP1.1) and DisplayPort 1.2 (DP1.2), however the out-of-box default setting on the monitor is DP1.2. Workaround: To switch monitor to DP1.1: If you can see video, go to the monitor On-Screen Display (OSD) menu using the monitor menu buttons and change the DisplayPort 1.2 option to Disabled (Figure 6).
