Document Version Release Date Details 2 2 November 2018 Updated the Resolution section to show that the general release firmware is now available 1 17 April 2018 Original Document Release When attempting to create a Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016 cluster, the cluster validation test will fail or hang during the storage persistent reservation tests: HPE Smart Array Gen10 controller version 1.04 using the 63.32.0.64 or 100.52.1.6 smartpqi driver, the persistent reservation test will fail. Review the Cluster Validation Report, if the Validate SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation test failed: Test Disk 1 does not provide Persistent Reservations support for the mechanisms used by failover clusters. Some storage devices require specific firmware versions or settings to function properly with failover clusters. Please contact your storage administrator or storage vendor to check the configuration of the storage to allow it to function properly with failover clusters. Test failed. Please look at the test log for more information. HPE Smart Array Gen10 controller version 1.34 using the 63.32.0.64 or 100.52.1.6 smartpqi driver, the persistent reservation test will hang. There is a new HPE Smart Array Gen10 driver and firmware that will fix both conditions.

The General Availability (GA) HPE Smart Array Gen10 firmware is now available. To resolve the cluster validation storage test issue, install both components below: Update the HPE Smart Array controllers to 1.60 or later firmware Update the Smartpqi driver to version 100.62.0.64 or later NOTE: Products sold prior to the November 1, 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. may have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models.
