Backup Job Status Display Issue Users may observe the following symptom in PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM): The Step Logs displays the message This job is queued and pending execution even after the backup job has completed successfully: Figure 1. Step Log - This job is queued and pending execution. Figure 2. Details tab - This job is queued and pending execution. Despite the log message, the backup files are present and can be accessed from the Restore tab.
Root Cause of Persistent Queued and Pending Execution Status This issue is a PPDM user interface software defect. The UI incorrectly retains and displays the status This job is queued and pending execution even after the backup job has completed successfully. The defect is identified as bug PDM06C-1489 in the PPDM codebase. This issue affects versions prior to the 19.21 release. The problem is purely visual; backup operations complete correctly and the resulting files are accessible using the Restore tab.
Upgrade PowerProtect Data Manager to version 19.21 or later. Perform the upgrade only after all active backup jobs have finished. Interrupting an in‑progress backup may cause data inconsistency. This issue is purely a UI display problem; the backup data is not affected. If the UI still shows pending status after the upgrade, contact Dell Support for assistance (provide your Service Request ID and environment details).
