Symptom
Upgrading vmtools outside of ISE is not a supported operation, and if this is done the tools will still show as running(out-of-date). The tools only get updated with an ISE reinstall, software/patch upgrade.
ISE 1.1.x releases run version 8.6 of Vmware tools, so the tools need to be updated in an ISE patch for better manageability.
Conditions
Vmware tools are running an outdated version on ISE.
